The Zorocks Pure Edge resource pack wouldn’t even cross your mind when you think about extraordinary, innovative textures. But that’s okay because its goal isn’t to transform Minecraft into a new game with a striking appearance and unrecognizable models. Instead, it focuses on improving the existing look, removing unnecessary clutter, and polishing the whole presentation of the game. The developer has been working on it ever since 2012, so you can be certain that there aren’t any mismatched or out-of-place textures. One of the key features of Zorocks Pure-Edge texture pack is its cohesive visual approach. Its name might be a giveaway for the main style that it implements which is a clear, outlined border between various blocks. The focus is on minimalism and simplicity, with straightforward textures that don’t try to be overly innovative. The color palette of the vanilla game is retained, and all blocks use just a fraction of their original colors in order to make them appear more uniform. An interesting feature involves all fluids – lava and water – which also have blocky textures and a clear border between their source blocks. As far as items go, they have an enhanced look that blends in really well with the environment. Of course, they don’t follow the blocky style, but the textures themselves are more consistent and smooth. Swords and tools have more pixels and somewhat represent the appearance that you might find in a faithful resource pack. Handheld textures for the blocks are pretty much identical to how they appear when they’re placed down. Arguably the most breathtaking change involves the leaves. Each leaf block has a unique layout that consists of numerous miniature green cubes, which together form a single leaf. The visuals are almost identical regardless of whether you’re playing on a fast or fancy graphics setting. Other types of foliage, such as grass and grass blocks, have a similar color palette that blends them together. Also, the grass blocks have varying heights depending on how much the grass has grown, which is a very nice detail that adds to the overall atmosphere of the game.

When you visit the Nether, you’ll be surprised the most by how glowstone looks. It has a mellow, yellowish hue, and it’s somewhat transparent with light specks in it. Mobs haven’t been changed a whole lot besides some of the details. For example, the patterns on a cow have been modified to be a bit blockier, but the overall appearance is the same. Creepers and other baddies have received a smoother outfit, leaning a bit towards a cartoonish look. Still, everything is quite close to the original so as to not ruin the main theme. A very welcome improvement is in regard to glass and glass panes. Instead of the vanilla semi-transparent textures that have a couple of lines throughout them, the Zorocks Pure Edge implements a fully transparent glass block. In regards to GUI, the only change is in the hotbar and the player’s menu. The sections that separate different blocks in your hotbar have been modified to appear more spacious. Partitions between the items are now just two tiny lines at both the top and the bottom of the GUI instead of using up the whole length. Inside the inventory, partitions are in the form of a plus sign, which is an interesting touch. The main selling point of the Zorocks Pure Edge resource pack is its very high performance. All of the textures in the pack are 32×32, which is just double the size of Minecraft’s vanilla textures. While this might seem too small – especially when compared to some of the robust packs that go up to 256×256 – it’s plenty enough for the needs of this resource pack. With a refined look and all of the unnecessary elements removed, it could even improve your overall FPS. Ever since the pack was updated for Minecraft 1.16, connecting textures for glass have been introduced. However, in order to be able to use them, you’ll have to install Optifine to get the CTM support. This is just an added bonus since Optifine itself will likely squeeze out a few extra frames. All in all, if you’re a fan of simple, minimalist resource packs, Zorocks Pure Edge is one you shouldn’t miss.
Zorocks Pure-Edge should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.16.5 - 1.16.4 - 1.16.3 - 1.16.2 - 1.16.1 - 1.16 - 1.15.2 - 1.15.1 - 1.15 - 1.14.4 - 1.14.3 - 1.14.2 - 1.14
