Detailed Realism Resource Pack 1.8.9 / 1.7.10

The Detailed Realism resource pack aims to push Minecraft toward the highest realism it can, so the world looks more like real materials and the game feels more engaging. The pack is unfinished and never reached a final release, but most of the textures are done. Some blocks and items lack custom textures, because work stopped at about seventy percent completion. You may notice missing textures in a few places, yet for most play it works fine with what you already have in the game. Many realism packs in this category use huge resolutions, but this one stays lower than the common standard. It offers two options, 128x and 256x, so you can match the pack to your hardware. Choose 256x if your PC can keep a stable frame rate and you want more detail in each texture. If your system struggles with high resolution packs, choose 128x and keep the same style with a lighter load.

Both versions keep the same goal and look, with the main change being how much fine detail you see when you look at blocks from close range. The community has followed this project since the start of 2014. The first version released in 2014 and Minecraft players received it well. For a time, the author released updates on a set schedule and added more finished textures. In the last few years, the pack has not received updates, so you should not expect new releases or full coverage for newer Minecraft versions. Since the pack has been idle for years, treat it as a snapshot from its last build, not an active project. If you play on older versions for any reason, you can download the pack and try it in your own world. Keep in mind that a few blocks and items remain missing, but the pack stands as a decent option in its category.

Detailed Realism should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.8.9 - 1.8.8 - 1.8.1 - 1.8.6 - 1.8 - 1.7.10 - 1.7.9 - 1.7.4 - 1.7
