Day One resource pack is a Minecraft pack made by a creator named Ringoster, and honestly, it is one of the more interesting ideas out there. It mixes a tough survival vibe with a bit of a futuristic and realistic look, all while keeping the vanilla Minecraft feel mostly intact. How do you even mix themes that are so different from each other? Somehow Ringoster pulled it off, and he did it really well. The pack was made for older versions of Minecraft and runs at a 16x resolution. Yes, this is another old classic, and just like many packs from that time, it stopped getting updates after 1.7.x. So if you are playing on newer versions of the game, it will probably not work. But if you are still hanging around the older versions for any reason, do yourself a favor and give this one a shot. The whole idea behind Day One is a world where nature and advanced technology live side by side.
Ringoster describes it as starting out in the wilderness, where you begin with basic stone tools and a wooden hut, and slowly work your way up to diamond gear and cool redstone machines. It has a dystopian, near future feel to it, kind of like The Hunger Games, where fancy tech exists in a world that nature still rules. Visually, the pack looks darker, rugged, and just a little bit futuristic. Even though it is only 16x, you can tell it was made with a lot of care and love for the details. The story behind the pack is fun too. Ringoster started it around a year before his 2014 comeback, worked hard on it, then got unhappy with his own work as he got better at art. In 2014 he started bringing it back to life, though he warned that updates would be slow. Overall, Day One is a lovely old pack with a really unique feel.

How to install Day One Resource Pack:
- Most resource packs require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – general recommended step for all packs, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the Day One texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of Minecraft, the one you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client through the Minecraft launcher.
- On the main menu, click "Options".
- On the options menu, click "Resource Packs...".
- Click on "Open Resource Pack Folder". – folder titled "resourcepacks" will pop up
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step to the newly opened "resourcepacks" folder.
- Click "Done".
- Click on "Resource Packs..." again.
- Your pack should have appeared in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes, when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it does not affect your gameplay in anyway, and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by simply clicking the "Yes" button when prompted.
- Click "Done" again.
- The pack has now been successfully loaded and ready to be used in your world!
