If you grew up speeding through loop de loops with a certain blue hedgehog, the Green Hill Pack resource pack is about to become your new favorite thing in Minecraft. Created by Drazile, also known as Drazile12, and released in 2014, this pack takes its inspiration straight from the classic Sega Genesis Sonic games. We are talking about Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Here is the part that really earns respect. Nothing in this pack was lifted or copied from the games. Every single texture was drawn by the author from scratch, just in the same style as those classic titles. That means you get the look and the feeling of Sonic, which is honestly impressive dedication. Back in 2014, most resource packs were chasing realism, trying to make Minecraft look as serious and lifelike as possible.
Green Hill Pack went the opposite way. It drags the bright, colorful, cartoon style of classic Sonic right into the blocky world, and the result is a game that feels completely different. The whole world turns vibrant, punchy, and playful, with pixel art that would fit right into a Sega platformer. Performance wise, you have nothing to worry about. The pack runs at a 32x resolution, which is only a small step above the vanilla 16x textures, so most computers will handle it just fine with barely any impact. The project was developed on and off over roughly two years. Drazile explained that he simply could not find a Sonic pack that matched his taste and stayed updated, so he built his own. Just keep in mind that MCPatcher is required to run the pack as it was intended, so grab that first and enjoy the nostalgia.

How to install Green Hill Resource Pack:
- Most resource packs require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – general recommended step for all packs, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the Green Hill texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of Minecraft, the one you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client through the Minecraft launcher.
- On the main menu, click "Options".
- On the options menu, click "Resource Packs...".
- Click on "Open Resource Pack Folder". – folder titled "resourcepacks" will pop up
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step to the newly opened "resourcepacks" folder.
- Click "Done".
- Click on "Resource Packs..." again.
- Your pack should have appeared in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes, when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it does not affect your gameplay in anyway, and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by simply clicking the "Yes" button when prompted.
- Click "Done" again.
- The pack has now been successfully loaded and ready to be used in your world!
