If you’ve ever wished Minecraft could drop you into the middle of the 1770s, the American Revolution resource pack might be exactly what you’ve been looking for. It comes from a creator named BeaversLikeWood, who spent well over a year building the whole thing from scratch. The goal was simple but ambitious, which was to turn the familiar blocky sandbox into a rugged colonial world shaped by the American Revolutionary War. It’s a complete overhaul, so it suits anyone who wants a survival or building adventure with real historical flavor and lots of roleplaying potential. Much of the look was inspired by Assassin’s Creed 3, the Ubisoft game. If you’ve played it, you’ll likely spot the resemblance right away in the architecture, the interface touches, and even a few of the tools. There’s an Animus 3.0 style GUI (menu), and a custom font called Eagle Sans was created to capture that blend of modern polish and old time charm. Then there are the changes to gear and creatures.
Bows and arrows become muskets and lead bullets, while the usual tools turn into swords and tomahawks. Zombies now show up as British Redcoats, and villagers appear as American patriots, so every night feels a little like a battle line. The sound work is brand new too, covering eating, taking damage, firing muskets, and even the soft whistling of wind drifting around you. Visually, most of the textures use a 32x resolution, which is exactly double vanilla’s default. That gives tools and building materials room for fine detail without asking much of your computer. The colors are darker and grittier than vanilla’s bright palette, with earthy browns, weathered grey for bricks and cobblestone, and deep reds for enemy uniforms. This sets a serious wartime mood and makes historical builds feel far more believable. As for performance, the pack is gentle on your hardware, so most everyday computers should keep frame rates smooth. For the best experience, though, BeaversLikeWood recommends installing OptiFine or MCPatcher. The creator also suggests pairing the pack with Balkons Weapon Mod, which gets its own custom textures here, so everything fits together nicely.

How to install American Revolution Resource Pack:
- Most resource packs require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – general recommended step for all packs, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the American Revolution texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of Minecraft, the one you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client through the Minecraft launcher.
- On the main menu, click "Options".
- On the options menu, click "Resource Packs...".
- Click on "Open Resource Pack Folder". – folder titled "resourcepacks" will pop up
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step to the newly opened "resourcepacks" folder.
- Click "Done".
- Click on "Resource Packs..." again.
- Your pack should have appeared in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes, when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it does not affect your gameplay in anyway, and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by simply clicking the "Yes" button when prompted.
- Click "Done" again.
- The pack has now been successfully loaded and ready to be used in your world!
